Merging elements of Country, Electro and Psychedelia, and with influences ranging from The Vaselines to Leadbelly, and from Mogwai to Nick Drake, THE MINERALS is the alter-ego of Climbing Trees singer, guitarist and bassist Colenso Jones.
Recorded in isolation at Mwnci Studios in Carmarthenshire, Jones returned in 2021 with brand new single City Lights, a first studio release as The Minerals since 2017’s standalone single Road To Ruin.
Reminiscent of Neon Bible-era Arcade Fire, City Lights details the lure of the metropolis, evoking the darker moments heard across The Minerals’ 2015 eponymous debut album – a collection of eight songs written in the remote hills of Southern France the previous winter – that gained Ball Of String B Side Lo-Fi a placement on cult indie film The Victorians.
