With a combination of heartfelt lyrics and heartbreaking harmonies, the twosome count the likes of The Staves, First Aid Kit and The Civil Wars amongst their influences, whilst retaining the signature Cymrucana sound found in Matthew’s work as both a solo artist and frontman of the Welsh Music Prize-nominated Climbing Trees.
Having performed alongside Welsh contemporaries Rusty Shackle, The Goudies, Joe Kelly, Tom Jenkins and The Gentle Good as well as featuring at a host of festivals including FOCUS Wales, Between The Trees, The Big Retreat, The Green Gathering and Aberjazz over the past couple of years, Hazel & Grey are currently writing their debut record, set for release via Staylittle in 2026.
